The design of the new sixth-generation iPad mini doesn't match that of the previous-gen models. Instead, you'll need to buy a new case, such as Apple's brand new Smart Folio built just for the device.
New design means new cases
The iPad mini has been totally redesigned for 2021. That's great news for fans of Apple's diminutive tablet since it means the company is paying attention to the small tablet market after leaving the iPad mini untouched since 2019 (and in need of a redesign for much longer). However, it's not so great for existingiPad mini accessories.
In theiPad mini 6, we see a totally new chassis with squared-off edges akin to the latestiPad AirandiPad Promodels, as well as a change in screen size — up to 8.3 inches from 7.9 inches. Though the overall footprint isn't that different, the shape change means that any cases and covers you had for your iPad mini 5 won't be good for the new model, so you'll need to buy a specific iPad mini 6 case.
Apple is your best bet for now
While we know tons of third-party cases will hit the market in the coming weeks and months, Apple is the best place to order an iPad mini 6 case from at launch since Apple is the only company that (officially) knew the product existed before today.
Apple has already unveiled a new Smart Folio for iPad mini 6 that covers the front and back of your new device and doubles up as a stand. It comes in a variety of colors to compliment the new iPad mini hues.
Is the new iPad mini right for you?
Along with a physical redesign Apple's latest iPad mini has been given a serious power boost, though its price has also risen.
Inside, it's now powered by an A15 Bionic chip that allows for 40% faster performance in terms of raw CPU, while GPU performance will jump 80% over the previous generation, according to Apple.
The display now has 500 nits of brightness, the addition of P3 Wide Color, and True Tone. It also has an anti-reflective screen coating for less glare and a fully laminated display for more vivid color and better visibility in different lighting settings.
Front and back cameras also got some attention, moving to 12MP sensors on both sides. The front-facing camera in particular is extra handy as it now features a wider viewing angle and support for Center Stage on video calls.
That's all on top of a new design, USB-C connectivity, 5G in the cellular models, Apple Pencil 2 support, and more.
All of these stellar updates come at a cost, though. The starting price of iPad mini has gone up by $100 so you now need to spend $499 to get in the door. If the new features aren't worth it for you, or you want to keep your old accessories, you'll want to consider whether an upgrade is the right move.

Best answer:No. The dimensions and shape of the Apple Watch Series 7 are slightly different than the Apple Watch Series 6, 5, 4, and SE.
Best answer:No. The dimensions and shape of the Apple Watch Series 7 are slightly different than the Apple Watch Series 6, 5, 4, and SE.
So what's new and different about the Apple Watch Series 7?
Apple announced theApple Watch Series 7at the latest Apple Event, to be released sometime this fall. The screen size will be larger, measuring 41mm and 45mm instead of the current models' 40mm and 44mm options, giving it 20% more screen area. The display is more advanced, up to 70% brighter indoors. Users will be able to pull up a full keyboard for typing on the new Apple Watch. There will be new faces, exclusively for the Series 7, including Dynamic Contour and a new Modular face with two large complications. And yes, there will be some lovely new color options and new bands available.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is more durable than ever, with a crack-resistant display and IP6X certification. You can actually fast charge the watch with a USB-C cable, from totally dead to 70% battery life in only 45 minutes. A quick eight-minute charge will get you enough juice for eight hours of sleep tracking.
But it looks so similar; why won't my old case fit?
At first glance, the Apple Watch Series 7's form factor does appear to be pretty close to the Apple Watch Series 6, 5, 4, and SE. It isn't noticeably bigger. However, the watch does have more softly rounded edges and corners. And while most of the increased screen size is due to the reduction of the bezels, the watch itself is ever so slightly larger as well. In addition, the buttons on the side of the watch will be larger.
Apple Watch cases tend to fit quite precisely. The differences are significant enough that you cannot expect your old case to fit. I think it goes without saying that the older Apple Watch models, from the Series 3 back to the original model, are different enough that case fit wouldn't even be close.
What about bands?
Don't worry, yourold Apple Watch bands will fit fine. The band mechanism and slots haven't changed at all.
Any case suggestions?
You can bet we'll be rounding up Apple Watch Series 7 cases as they become available. If you're not upgrading, you can pick up one of thebest Apple Watch casesfor your specific model. It's a safe bet that many of the makers of our favorite cases will also make new cases for Series 7.

Finally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 16.75-watt hour battery, 18% more than the 12 Pro Max's 14.13-watt hour battery.
In real-world terms, Apple says the iPhone 13 is good for 17 hours of video playback, 13 hours of streamed playback, or 55 hours of audio. On the same metrics the 13 Pro can do 22 hours, 20 hours, and 75 hours respectively. Of course, these are carefully controlled benchmarks, and in actual real-world terms, Apple says the iPhone 13 offers two and a half hours extra over the iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 mini offers an hour and a half more than the iPhone 12 mini. On the Pro, Apple states:
iPhone 13 Pro will last up to one and a half hours longer in a day than iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max will last up to two and a half hours longer in a day than iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 13 Pro has a more power-hungry 120Hz display, but a variable refresh rate helps to manage power consumption.

Having problems with FaceTime? Here's what you should do to try and fix them.
FaceTimeis an easy-to-use tool for video calls between Apple devices and, when it is working exactly as it should, it's one of thebest iPhoneapps there is.
As is true with any piece of software, though, issues are bound to crop up for some people when using it. But don't worry, because we've gathered up some top tips for helping you resolve any issues you might run into. Here's how you troubleshoot FaceTime problems on your iPhone or iPad.
How to turn FaceTime off and on in Settings
There's an old adage in IT that you can fix most problems by turning the troublesome device off and on again. That rings true for a lit of software, too, where quitting and relaunching can fix the issue. The first thing you should do if you need to troubleshoot FaceTime issues is try turning FaceTime off and on again. Here's how.
OpenSettingson your iPhone or iPad.
Scroll down and tapFaceTime.
Tap theswitchnext to FaceTime so it changes to the white 'off' position. Wait a moment.
Tap theswitchagain to flip it to the green 'on' position. Wait for FaceTime to reactivate.
How to reset network settings
Of course, your FaceTime issues could be the result of some problems with your network settings.
OpenSettingson your iPhone or iPad.
TapGeneral.
Scroll down and tapReset.
TapReset Network Settings. You might be asked to enter your passcode to confirm.
Note that resetting network settings will remove previously connected Wi-Fi networks, VPN settings, and will rename your device back to simply "iPhone" or "iPad".
You may wish to try rebooting your device, as outlined below, first before performing this reset.
How to hard reboot your iPhone or iPad
If turning FaceTime on and off doesn't work, and resetting your network settings hasn't made a difference, then you might need tohard reboot your iPhone.
The methods for doing so differ depending on what model of iPhone you have, so check out that linked guide for all of the instructions you need.

Apple's'California Streaming' eventis set to kick off on today, September 14 at 10:00 AM PDT. The company is expected to announce theiPhone 13andApple Watch Series 7. The3rd generation AirPodsand9th generation iPadare also potential product announcements at the upcoming event.
As it has done many times, Apple is making it very easy for anyone to tune in and watch the special event on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or any non-Apple device you may own.
How to watch
The first way to watch today's special event is through theApple TV app. While the listing is not present on the TV app yet, the company usually begins to list it on the day of the event, so keep an eye out for it. In addition, the Apple TV app isavailable on a ton of devices, so you should be able to tune in on many of your favorite streaming devices.
Another way to watch the Apple Event is through the Apple Events website. Apple always makes its events, in addition to the TV app, available on its website so that those without access to the app still have a way to stream the event live. So, in addition to watching the event on the site, you can also hop over there now and either share it to social media, grab a link to the page, or add it to your calendar, so you don't forget to tune in today!
The last way to watch today's event is through YouTube. Apple has been streaming all of its live events on YouTube for a few years now. It's an obvious move as YouTube is the dominant way to watch videos online and is especially popular for the tech community. In addition to watching it live, you can set a reminder to ensure you get notified when the event starts. The notification will come in the form of an email and a push notification if you have the YouTube app installed on your iPhone or iPad.
What if I miss the live event?
If you happen to miss the live event, you'll still be able to watch it through the TV app, the Apple Events website, and YouTube. Apple also commonly makes it available on Apple Podcasts. We'll make sure to post another article detailing how to watch the event once it's over!

Apple occasionally offers updates toiOS,iPadOS,watchOS,tvOS, andmacOSas closed developer previews orpublic betas. While the betas contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that can prevent the normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a primary device. That's why we strongly recommend staying away from developer previews unless you need them for software development, and using the public betas with caution. If you depend on your devices, wait for the final release.
New Launchpad games folder
When you download games from Apple Arcade or the Mac App Store to Mac in macOS Monterey, you'll find them added to a new folder in Launchpad.
You can find LaunchPad on the Mac Dock or through the Applications folder.
Game Center accept friend requests
In macOS Monterey, Apple's making it possible to (finally) see friend requests in Game Center on Mac. To access these requests, navigate to the App Store or within your Game Center profile in a game.
To find and accept friend requests in the App Store on Mac:

Apple'siPhone 13event will be held on September 14, 2021 at 10 am PT. Here's everything we can expect for Apple's upcoming replacement toiPhone 12.
Name: Unlucky for some
Whilst there had been rumors that Apple would skip iPhone 13 as a moniker, recent packaging leads could indicate this is false. Internally, this year's iPhone is reportedly considered an 'S' upgrade, but iPhone 13 seems nailed on at this point.
Design
The brand new design of the iPhone 12 with its square edges has been a big hit with plenty of customers, and there are no reports that Apple plans to deviate from this design in 2021.
Multiple dummy units and CAD files indicate Apple is going to make some slight tweaks to the iPhone's design this year, the regular models will feature a rearranged camera configuration, whilst the iPhone 13 Pro will reportedly feature a much larger camera bump and enlarged camera lenses. We've also heard lots of rumors about a smaller notch coming to this year's iPhone.
Size
Reports indicate that Apple will follow the same lineup configuration as the iPhone 12, which means four phones in three different sizes:
iPhone 13 mini (5.4-inch)
iPhone 13 (6.1-inch)
iPhone 13 Pro (6.1-inch)
iPhone 13 Pro Max (6.7-inch)
Display
If reports are correct, 2021 could finally be the year of 120Hz on the iPhone. According to reports, the iPhone 13 Pro lineup is expected to feature a ProMotion display with a variable refresh rate display, thanks to LTPO adoption. This is the same technology Apple uses in Apple Watch and Mark Gurman says this will bring an always-on display to iPhone, as well as 120Hz capability. We aren't expecting the regular iPhone models to feature 120Hz this year.
Processor
The inclusion of a new A15 processor in the new iPhone looks like a certainty at this point, expect speed boosts and efficiency upgrades as per previous years.
Camera
One big rumored improvement for the next iPhone is the camera.Reportssuggest that at least the Pro versions of the device will feature a Time-of-Flight camera, with a triple-lens configuration.
Reports also claim that the iPhone 13 lineup, the two lower-end devices, will receive a boost by taking on the camera from the iPhone 12 Pro Max. As with iPhone 12, these are expected to be dual cameras. At least one leak indicates that LiDAR is only coming to the Pro iPhone 13 models. Multiple dummy units and case leaks indicate the camera layout of the regular new iPhone will be adjusted to a diagonal format, and that the bump will be larger.
Battery
The only reports we have about theiPhone's battery this yearindicate a pretty substantial upgrade in capacity is coming. How this will translate to real-world performance, however, is a different matter, with upgrades to the display, connectivity, and camera, it could be the larger batteries only make for a slight performance increase or even something in line with last year.
Connectivity
Apple is expected to expand support for its much faster mmWave 5G with this year's iPhone, bringing support to more countries, as well as Wi-Fi 6E for improved browsing speeds wherever you are! Apple is also reportedly working on a spicy new satellite feature that will enable two new safety features. Emergency Services via satellite will let users text emergency services and contacts over a satellite network even without cell signal. A second feature will reportedly be used to report emergencies like a plane crash or sinking ship using satellite networks.
Charging: Finally USB-C, right?
No. A report fromJon Prosserearlier this year states that Apple will never adopt USB-C in the iPhone and that Apple is planning to release one 'portless' iPhone next year. That's right, at least one iPhone 13 could come with no ports whatsoever, relying on wireless connectivity and charging, or perhaps a smart connector to get the job done. Regardless, there will never be a USB-C iPhone. We have heard rumors however that the iPhone 13 might get a slight boost thanks to a new 25W adapter, however, the rumor doesn't come from a source with a great track record.
Storage
Rumors state that we might be getting a new 1TB storage option for the iPhone 13, which sounds like overkill to be quite honest, not to mention it'll probably cost an absolute fortune.
Price
Recent reports suggest Apple might have to eat some increased pricing when it comes to iPhone manufacturing, leading some reports to speculate the iPhone 13 could cost more than its predecessor.
Release date
Apple's iPhone 13 event is taking place on September 14, so we can expect the phone to be released later that week for pre-order, arriving in stores the following week.
The return of Touch ID
There were multiple reports that Apple had planned to include in-screen Touch ID in the year's iPhone, but this has reportedly not made the cut and won't feature this year.
Smaller notch
There are multiple indications that Apple's notch will be narrower, but not shorter, in the 2021 iPhone lineup. That should hopefully mean more space on either side of the notch for status symbols and indicators such as battery life and connectivity.

Doing a few tweaks will extend your MacBook battery daily.
Perhaps the most important reason to purchase a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro is mobility. But, unfortunately, this benefit means little if the laptop's battery has been exhausted. Though today's Apple laptops last longer on a single charge than previous models, they will still run out. However, there are ways you can boost the MacBook battery on thebest MacBooksto extend the time between charges.
What you can expect
The batteries on the current generation of MacBooks have been designed to last between 10 and 18 hours before needing a charge. These numbers are on the higher side for Apple silicon-based machines, as you can see on the summary below:
MacBook Air (M1, 2020): Up to 15 hours wireless web and up to 18 hours Apple TV app movie playback.
13-inch MacBook Pro (M1, 2020): Up to 17 hours wireless web and up to 20 hours Apple TV app movie playback.
13-inch MacBook Pro (2020, Intel version): Up to 10 hours wireless web or Apple TV app movie playback.
16-inch MacBook Pro (2019, Intel): Up to 11 hours wireless web or Apple TV app movie playback.
Keep in mind, these numbers are an estimate, at best, and can fluctuate depending on what you're doing and the age of your computer's battery.
To improve and possibly extend the battery life on your MacBook daily, you should consider performing any of the following.
Check what's running
Apple makes it easy to identify which apps and processes are currently using the most MacBook battery power on your computer. To find this information, click on the battery icon at the top right of the menu bar. Then, review the apps and processes using the most power under the Using Significant Energy section.
By knowing this information, you can adjust what you're doing. Most likely, there are apps currently running that don't need to be so that you can close them.
Some activities and processes on your Mac are battery hogs, whether you're using an Apple silicon or Intel-based Mac. You can adjust various settings for these to reserve power as needed.
Screen brightness
That beautiful screen on your laptop looks even better as brightness increases. Unfortunately, higher brightness shortens the time between battery charges. To adjust this setting:
Click onSystem Preferenceson the Mac dock.
ChooseDisplays.
Uncheck theAutomatically adjust brightnessbox.
Use thebrightness sliderto adjust the settings to better match your needs.
Turn off Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
Interestingly, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can drain your computer's battery. This doesn't mean you should forgo using Bluetooth accessories with your MacBook or tell your kiddo that it's impossible to stream Netflix this weekend. Nonetheless, you still might want to consider turning these settings off when they're not required.
To do so:
Click on theControl Center iconon your Mac's menu bar at the right.
ChooseBluetooth, then toggle off Bluetooth, when applicable.
ChooseWi-Fi, then toggle off Wi-Fi, when applicable.
Toggle on both to restart.
Adjust keyboard backlight
By default, the backlight on your MacBook's keyboard turns on/off based on low light. The backlight also stays on in low light, even when there's no activity. You can change both of these settings to save energy.
Click onSystem Preferenceson the Mac dock.
ChooseKeyboard.
Toggle offAdjust keyboard brightness in low lightas necessary.
Toggle onTurn keyboard backlight off after (time) of inactivity. You can choose from five seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, one minute, and 5 minutes.
Adjust notifications you receive
InmacOS Monterey, you canadjust the notificationsyou receive on your Mac in fun, new ways. Cutting back on the number of notifications you receive indirectly improves battery life on your Mac.
Tweak Spotlight indexing
WithSpotlight, you can search your Mac for pretty much anything. However, for Spotlight to work requires an indexing process that can affect battery performance, at least in the short term. You can cut back on this by removing categories Spotlight will search.
To adjust:
Click onSystem Preferenceson the Mac dock.
ChooseSpotlight.
Uncheck thoseitemsyou no longer wish to index on the Search Results page.

Apple is adding more Health trends in iOS 15, including Sleep. Here's how you can keep an eye on your sleeping habits.
WithiOS 15andwatchOS 8coming this fall, Apple is giving you more reasons to use yourbest Apple Watchfor sleep tracking. That's because the Health app's new Trends feature lets you even see what's trending with your sleeping habits, assuming that you wear your Apple Watch to bed in the first place.
But how do you view Sleep trends in the Health app on yourfavorite iPhone? Don't worry, we show you how! On top of that, we'll explain each of these sleep trends and explain their importance.
How to view Sleep trends in Health on iPhone
Launch theHealth appon your iPhone.
Scroll down until you seeView Health Trendsunder theTrendssection.
TapView Health Trends.
Scroll down until you find the trends relating to your sleep health — these will be either turquoise or light blue in color.
Tap on atrendto view it in more detail.
TapShow More Datato view more details.
Health Trends determine a baseline for you depending on the data that the Health app pulls in from your Apple Watch and other apps for certain areas. When the Health app detects a change, whether higher or lower, it will notify you. But if the data point is consistent, you'll find it in the Not Trending section under Health Trends as a Daily Average.
What are the Sleep trends that you can see, and what do they mean?
There are several different trends that you may see relating to your overall Sleep health. Here's what each one of them means.
Sleep Duration
Sleep Duration is just what it sounds like: the amount of time you have spent sleeping each night. When you view more detail on this one, you can see information like your personal sleep goal, your average time in bed, and your average time asleep.
Heart Rate: Sleep
Even though you're sleeping, your heart still needs to get blood to your body. The Heart Rate: Sleep measures how many beats per minute (bpm) your heart is doing while you sleep. This is slightly different from Resting Heart Rate, which is your average heart beats per minute when you're inactive or just relaxed for several minutes.
Respiratory Rate: Sleep
A new feature in watchOS 8's Sleep app is the ability to track your respiratory rate. With Respiratory Rate: Sleep, it's basically how many breaths per minute you take while sleeping.
For the most part, your respiratory rate as you sleep should remain pretty stable over time, thus not appearing in the "Trending" section. However, if it's trending, either higher or lower, then that could mean that there may be an issue, like sleep apnea.

The app is packed with stunning new features in the upcoming macOS release.
New Maps features are coming to Apple's native app on macOS Monterey, launching to the public this fall. From new city experiences to enhanced transit maps and features, the update aims to make it easier to find locations and learn more about them. Though some features are exclusive to Apple silicon Macs, others work across all the best Macs.
Viewing the new Maps experience in macOS Monterey
Apple's adding more details to select city maps in macOS Monterey, such as San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and London. Among the details now tweaked or seen for the first time are roads, trees, buildings, landmarks, and more. The new features are exclusive to Macs with Apple silicon.
Here's a look at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, where the new features are displayed as you drill down.
Here's a look at Golden Gate Bridge in 3D:
Examining the interactive globe
The MacOS Monterey Maps app also includes a new interactive globe. But, again, this is for Apple Silicon machines only.
New transit features
The new Maps features also extend to public transit. In select cities, you'll find bus routes, nearby stations, and transit times. Frequent transit riders will also get one-click access to all departures that are near them. You can also pin your favorite lines, so they're always at the top if they are nearby.
Leaving later in the day? You can also plan your trip in-app.
Here's an example:
Enhanced driving features
Additionally, a new driving map makes it easier to see traffic, incidents, and other details. For example, you'll now see turn lanes, bike, bus, and taxi lanes, medians, crosswalks, and more.
Look at the details as you drill down:
Other new features
New Maps features in macOS Monterey also include improved search, an introduction of user accounts, improved Guides Home, and enhanced place cards.
Search
With Maps search in macOS Monterey, you can filter content so that you only see certain locations. For example, only Italian restaurants or only open eateries.
User accounts
With the built-in user accounts feature, all of your Maps settings now extend to other devices, including iPhone and iPad. Settings you can tweak include preferred mode of transit, favorites, reported issues, and more.
Guides Home
The Maps app on Mac now includes a growing list of curated guides on the Search page on the left side of the app. You can browse by contend by the publisher or check out the editor's list, which sorts the information by location.
Place cards
Finally, the place cards in the Maps app has been redesigned. These cards offer more information for looked-up businesses and their location. The enhanced details make Maps an immersive experience no matter where you are.

Your notification options are getting better on Mac.
The upcomingmacOS Montereyrelease is packed full of new features. Among these are new ways to manage Mac notifications for apps and contacts, among others. These improvements are designed to help you save time and better concentrate on what you're doing. Each will work on all of thebest Macs.
Here's a look at the changes and what makes them useful.
How to use Focus to adjust your notifications
One of the biggest new features set to arrive on Mac is Focus. The tool, which isalso launching on iPhoneand iPad throughiOS 15andiPadOS 15, respectively, allows you to adjust the type of notifications you receive on your device(s) based on the time of day and what you're doing. You can adjust the settings for alerts from contacts and apps.
For example, perhaps during after-hours, you only want to receive notifications from select contacts but not from apps. Further, you rather limit alerts to those only from colleagues and immediate family members and specific news apps during work hours.
Once you'veset-up and establishedyour initial Focus groups, you can adjust the settings at will, thereby manage Mac notification much better than better.
To adjust your contact notification settings:
ChooseSystem Preferencesfrom your Mac's dock.
SelectNotifications & Focus.
Click on theFocustab.
Choose theFocusyou wish to change on the left side of the Notifications & Focus box.

HighlightAppsunder the Allowed Notifications From: section.
Click the+, then highlight an installed app you wish to add
Select theAddbutton.
Repeat Steps 6-7 to add more apps.
You can adjust the settings for each of your Focus groups. To share Focus settings across your other devices:
ChooseSystem Preferencesfrom your Mac's dock.
SelectNotifications & Focus.
Click on theFocustab.
Toggle onShare Across Devices.
Your app settings will only carry over for those titles also installed on the other devices.
How to temporarily mute notifications
If you're getting many notifications from a person or app, you can temporarily mute the alerts to help you concentrate. To do so:
Click on thetimeon the right of your Mac menu bar to bring up Notification Center.
Right-click thenotification(or set of notifications) you wish to mute.
Choose a muting option. You can select: - Mute for one hour. - Mute for today. - Turn off.
Other new features
Apple has added other new notification-based features in macOS Monterey. These include:
New look for notifications: Notifications have a fresh new look, with contact photos for people and larger icons for apps.
Muting suggestions: If a thread is really active and you aren't engaging with it, you'll get a suggestion to mute it.
Time-Sensitive notifications: These are notifications always delivered immediately like fraud alerts, a reminder to go pick up your kids, and more.
Communication notifications: Notifications from people across your communication apps now feature contact photos to make them easier to identify.

Does your Mac have a virus or malware? Here are sometroubleshooting steps to find out.

Does your Mac have a virus or malware? Here are sometroubleshooting steps to find out.
The days when Macs didn't get viruses and malware are long over. Unfortunately, though Macs are less prone to picking up nasty files than Windows-based computers, they aren't 100% foolproof. It's why we recommend using thebest antivirus toolon the market, because yes,you do needone of these tools installed.
If you haven't yet installed antivirus protection on your computer and are worried you have a problem, there are some troubleshooting steps you can take to attempt to solve the problem. Here are some steps to check Mac for viruses and better protect your computer moving forward.
Delete downloaded files
A downloaded file may be infected with a virus or malware. You can delete these at will.
Go into theDownloadsfolder on your computer.
Deleteunnecessary files.
Empty theMac Trash.
Look for and remove suspicious Safari extensions
Another way to check Mac for viruses is by looking at Safari extensions. These software titles enhance the internet experience in Safari. Unfortunately, some extensions can cause havoc on your computer. You should delete any extension that you're not familiar with by following these steps.
Go into theSafariapp on your Mac.
ClickSafarion the menu bar.
ChoosePreferences.
ClickExtensions.
Choose anyunfamiliar extensionon the left side.
SelectUninstallto delete the extension.
Repeat Steps 5-6 to remove other extensions.
Reboot yourcomputer.
Remove unknown apps
As part of regular maintenance, you should remove unnecessary apps from your Mac. To do so:
Go into theApplicationsfolder.
Right-click on anyappyou'd like to remove.
ChooseMove to Trash.
Repeat Steps 2-3 to remove additional apps.
Empty theMac Trash.
Check and remove login items
Perhaps there's a login item that shouldn't be there on your computer. To check and remove these items:
Choose theApple iconat the top left of your Mac on the menu bar.
SelectSystem Preferences.
ClickUsers & Groups.
Choose yourprofileon the left side of the box.
Select theLogin Itemstab on the right side.
Highlight thelogin itemyou'd like to delete.
Choose-to delete.
Repeat Steps 6-7.
Better protect your Mac
One of the ways malware gets distributed onto a computer is through harmless-looking apps. This risk is greatly reduced by only downloading apps from vetted sources. Luckily, Apple has a built-in macOS tool that makes it possible to separate the good from the bad.
Choose theApple iconat the top left of your Mac on the menu bar.
SelectSystem Preferences.
ClickSecurity & Privacy.
Choose thelock iconat the bottom left on the General tab.
Unlock thelockby logging in with your Mac username and password.
Select thethe sourcesfrom which you'll allow the software to be installed.
Click thelockagain to lock in your choice.
The available choices are:
App Store: Allows apps only from the Mac App Store. This is the most secure setting. Apple identifies all the developers of apps in the Mac App Store, and each app is reviewed before it's accepted. macOS checks the app before it opens the first time to be certain it hasn't been modified since the developer shipped it. If there's ever a problem with an app, Apple removes it from the Mac App Store.
App Store and identified developers: Allows apps from the Mac App Store and apps from identified developers. Identified developers are registered with Apple and can optionally upload their apps to Apple for a security check. If problems occur with an app, Apple can revoke its authorization. In addition, macOS checks the app before it opens the first time to be certain it hasn't been modified since the developer shipped it.
Get an antivirus tool
If you're still experiencing issues with your Mac, it's probably best to download/purchase a highly-rated third-party antivirus tool. Use this to find and remove the dangerous files, then KEEP the software installed on the computer to protect it in the future.

Is connecting your M1 Mac to your external display not working? Here are some troubleshooting tips you can try.

Is connecting your M1 Mac to your external display not working? Here are some troubleshooting tips you can try.
Connecting an external display to your Mac should be as easy as connecting the HDMI or USB-C cable from your Mac to your display, but it seems that some people with M1 Macs are experiencing some trouble with this straightforward process. There have been reports of some of thebest Macsnot connecting to externals displays properly — flickering displays, black displays, blurry displays, or other issues. I even experienced it myself when I tried to hook up mybest USB-B monitorto my blueiMac (2021), and my display refused to turn on.
While there is no one magic bullet fix for absolutely every monitor problem you could encounter with the M1 Mac, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issues. Here's what you should do to fix any problems connecting an external monitor to your M1 Mac.
1. Reconnect the display
If you plug in your external display and you notice it's blank, blurry, flickering, or just not functioning properly, try unplugging your monitor from your M1 Mac and connecting it again.
Sometimes this is all you need to do to get your Mac to cooperate. If this doesn't do anything, try the next step.
2. Try a different cable
Not all cables are created equal, and sometimes cables can stop working altogether if they get damaged. If your display doesn't want to work properly with your M1 Mac, try using a different cable.
3. Try a different port
If you're using a USB-C connection for your monitor, try a different port to see if that resolves the issue. Specifically, on the M1 iMac and the M1 Mac mini, you should be using a Thunderbolt port to connect to any monitor. Plus, if you're connecting your monitor via aUSB-C hub, you'll want to try hooking that USB-C hub to a different port as well.
4. Reboot your Mac
Rebooting your Mac is a great way to shock the system and fix any niggling problems you might be experiencing. I would actually suggest trying two different types of reboots.
First, reboot your Mac and then plug in your external display once your Mac is powered on and you're logged in. If that doesn't work, try rebooting your Mac, but plug in your external display before you power on your Mac again.
5. Connect your monitor with display settings open
I know this sounds a little odd, but ultimately, it's how I got my external display to work with my iMac (2021).
GoSystem Preferences > Displaysand then try connecting your external monitor to your Mac with that Displays menu open.
6. Call Apple Support
Unfortunately, if you've tried all the tips above, it may be time to call in the big guns. If your screen still isn't working, you'll want to give Appel Support a call, and they should be able to get you back on track.

You likely use fonts every day on your Mac. The Font Book app is the place where you can manage all your fonts on your Mac, including installing new ones, so you always can have access to the fonts you want. Here's how to install new fonts on Mac.
How to install new fonts on your Mac
One important thing to know, when you first launch the Font Book app, you'll see a giant list of font names — some gray and some black. The fonts that are in black are already installed on your Mac, while the fonts that are gray need to be downloaded.
LaunchFont Bookfrom your applications folder.
Click thefontyou want to install. Remember the name of the font will be gray.
ClickDownload.
ClickDownloadon the pop up.
Now you should be able to use that font in applications that can display them. If you downloaded or bought new fonts from the internet, you'll need to double click the font file and install it first.

Here's a preview of Live Text on macOS Monterey
One of the newest features coming with macOS Monterey this fall is Live Text. Also launching on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, the feature lets you interact with the text found in any image. For example, text with an address can open in the Maps app, while numbers on an image can become phone digits that you can use in Messages. Once converted, the text is easy to copy/paste just as you would any other text to use elsewhere on your device..
At launch, Live Text will work in images in Preview, Photos, and Safari. It also works with Quick View in Finder. Unfortunately, it won't work in other apps or browsers.
Once macOS Monterey is released, Live Text will be available on all the best Macs, including yours!

There are hidden files inside your Mac onmacOS Montereyand previous versions. These files are all beneficial, which is the main reason Apple hides them. And yet, it's possible to find these hidden files on thebest Macsin just a few steps.
Why are they hidden?
Before getting started with finding these files, it's important to understand why they're hidden in the first place. In some cases, the removal of these files can cause serious problems with your computer. The hidden objects can take various forms, including libraries and files, backend directories, and many more.
Because deleting hidden files on a Mac could lead to significant problems, it's best not to find them unless you're a techie or Apple support requested that you do.

Getting that pesky 'Could Not Connect' message on your Snap? There are a couple of things you can do to fix it!
Snapchat can be fickle at times, keeping you from your Snaps with frustrating messages like, "Please check your connection and try again," or "Could not connect," even though you know you typed in the correct login password. There may be a number of reasons why Snapchat is keeping you from your adorable dog filters and flower crowns, like Snapchat just being down temporarily. If you're sure Snapchat isn't down, and you're sure you have the right login credentials, here are a few tips we recommend to try to remedy your lost connection to your Snaps.
Update your Snapchat
One of the easiest, most straightforward things to do if you're having a login issue on Snapchat is checking to see if the app needs any updating.
iOS 11 has made it so the login error is more and more prevalent on Snapchat, but checking for updates and getting the app up to date might get rid of the error all together.
Launch theApp Storefrom your Home screen.
TapUpdatesin the bottom row.
If there's an update for Snapchat waiting, it'll show up here. TapUpdateto force it.
Another thing you might consider doing is actually downgrading your iPhone altogether to iOS 10 if you're really having a tough time logging into Snap, but keep in mind that your iPhone will no longer be up-to-date.
Reset your Network Settings
Another super simple fix for you to do is go on into your network settings and reset them so everything is running smoothly.
Launch yourSettingsfrom your homescreen.
TapGeneral.
TapReset. It's at the bottom of your screen.
TapReset Network Settings.
After you restart your iPhone, try logging into Snapchat again.
Uninstall + Reinstall
Sometimes you need to start from the beginning (a very good place to start!) and uninstall Snapchat.
Once you've deleted Snapchat off of your iPhone, restart your iPhone. Then reinstall Snapchat the way you normally would through the App Store and try logging in again.
Believe it or not, this technique has worked for me the best out of all three listed here today.

Both you and the person you want to share with need to have an iPhone 8 or later, and either AirPods or compatible Beats headphones.
Have you ever gone for a run with a friend and wished you could listen to the same music at the same time? Ever been watching a show with someone on your phone and wish you didn't have to each share one headphone?
Well, if you and that friend both have iPhones running iOS 13, your wishes may be about to come true.
Thanks to a new feature called audio sharing in iOS 13, you and a friend can share audio between two devices. The bad news is that this feature comes with a lot of caveats.
First of all, to use this, you'll both need to have an iPhone 8 or newer. Secondly, it only works if both you and your friend's phones are connected to either AirPods or certain compatible Beats headphones.
DO YOU HAVE THESE HEADPHONES AND IPHONES?
First thing you need to do is figure out whether you’ve got the right devices. The feature is currently limited to thefollowing headphones:
AirPods
AirPods Pro
Powerbeats Pro
Powerbeats 3
Beats Solo Pro
Beats Solo 3 Wireless
Beats Studio 3 Wireless
BeatsX
According to Apple, you’ll need to be running iOS or iPadOS 13.1 or later on one of the following devices to use the feature:
iPhone 8 and later
iPad Pro (12.9-inch) second generation and later
iPad Pro (11-inch)
iPad Pro (10.5-inch)
iPad (fifth generation and later)
iPad Air (third generation)
iPad mini (fifth generation)
iPod touch (seventh generation)
HOW TO SET UP AUDIO SHARING
Here’s how you set it up. For this how-to, I’ll focus on AirPods, but it should work similarly for other compatible headphones.
With your AirPods on, start playing audio on your iPhone.
Next, tap the icon with the triangle and three circles that should be near your onscreen audio controls. (That icon can also be found in the audio playback section of the Control Center and on the audio playback block on your lock screen.)
In that menu, tap “Share Audio...”
From here, you have two options. You can either:
Bring your friend’s iPhone close to yours, and they’ll get a pop-up on their device to accept the audio you’re sharing.
Have your friend put the AirPods in their case, and bring the case close to your iPhone. That will prompt instructions to temporarily pair your friend’s AirPods to your iPhone.
That’s it! Once you’re both connected, the host iPhone controls the volume level on both sets of headphones. Each person can also control their own audio independently using their headphone controls.

What's better than a photo? A photo that moves, of course! Here's everything you need to know about the Live Photos feature.
How to take a Live Photo with your iPhone or iPad
Live Photo can easily be turned on and left on, or turned off and only turned on when you expressly want to use it — which is a great option if you're looking to save the battery and some space on your iPhone. Since Live Photos (which combine a 12-megapixel JPG image with a ~15FPS MOV file) take about twice the amount of storage, and require you to keep the camera relatively still for three seconds, both your storage and patience might lean you towards the latter approach.
The important thing to remember is that a Live Photois nota movie. It doesn't start when you hit the shutter. Instead, it grabs the photo. Think of it this way — the moment you hit the shutter is themid-pointof your live photo, the still that's wrapped in animation before and after. Grasp that, and your Live Photos will turn out just the way you want them!
Launch theCamera appfrom your Home screen.
Tap theLive Photobutton, top center (looks like a set of diffusing rings) to toggle it on (yellow).
Tap theShutterbutton to take your Live Photo.
The Live Photo icon will animate with a brief ripple and a yellow LIVE label will pop up to briefly alert you that it's on. A white LIVE OFF label will briefly alert you when it's not on. Additionally, there is an Auto option for Live Photos on the iPhone 11 series, but you can only access it via acontrol menuthat is accessed by tapping on the arrow at the top of the camera screen.
How to view Live Photos on a newer iPhone model
Viewing a Live Photo on one of Apple's current-generation iPhone models (iPhone 6s and later) is easy-peasy!
Launch thePhotos appfrom your Home screen.
Find theLive Photoyou want to view.
Press firmly on thephototo animate it.
It'll blur for just a second and then start to play.
How to view Live Photos on an older iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If someone who can take a Live Photo sends or shares one with you, as long as you have an iPhone or iPad — even an older one that can run iOS 9 or later — you can still watch it come to life.
Launch thePhotos appon your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Find theLive Photoyou want to view.
Touch and hold thephototo animate it.
How to share Live Photos on your iPhone or iPad
You can share your Live Photos right from the standard iOS Share sheet. Here's how!
If your social service of choice currently doesn't support Live Photos, you can use an app like Lively to convert a Live Photo into an animated GIF, or use the built-in method in Photos, which we'll get to in a minute.
Launch thePhotos appfrom your Home screen.
Find and tap theLive Photoyou'd like to share. If a photo is a Live one, you'll see a gray "Live" indicator in the upper left of your screen.
Tap theShare buttonon the bottom left of your screen. It's a box with an upward-pointing arrow.
Tap asharing method. You can share to just about any social media platform, and you can even share yourGIFSto YouTube.
Follow theon-screen promptsto share it like you normally would with the method of your choice.
How to set a Live Photo as the wallpaper
You can set Live Photos as your wallpaper on iPhone 6s or later, which works especially well for loved ones, children, pets, and landscapes.
Launch thePhotos appfrom your Home screen.
Find theLive Photoyou want to use as your wallpaper.
Tap theSharebutton.
Tap theUse as Wallpaperbutton.
TapLive Photoon the lower right of your screen if it's not already selected.
TapSet. You can't adjust the size of a Live Photo wallpaper.
TapSet Lock Screen,Set Home Screen, or optionallySet Both.
How to extract a still shot from a Live Photo
If you want the photo but without the fancy moving part, you can make a copy that gives you just that.
Open thePhotos app.
Select theLive Photoyou want to extract a still shot from.
Tap theShare iconin the bottom left corner of the screen.
TapDuplicatein the option tray at the bottom of the screen.
TapDuplicate as Still Photo.
A copy of the still photo will appear in your library right next to the original Live Photo. You can delete the Live Photo if you no longer want it to take up storage on your iPhone.
How to turn a Live Photo into a GIF
There's no longer any need to connect your iPhone to your Mac and go through the rigmarole of picking a GIF creator app. You can do it all right in the Photos app!
Launch thePhotos appfrom your Home screen.
Find and tap theLive Photoyou'd like to turn into a GIF.
Swipe up on thecenter of the screento reveal the animation options.
TapLoopif you'd like to loop the Live Photo as a GIF. You can also choose to"Bounce"it á la the Boomerang app for Instagram, or even go withLong Exposure.
You'll then be able to find your GIF in theAnimated albumin the Photos app.
How to turn a Live Photo into a GIF in iOS 15
IniOS 15, Apple has tweaked the method of turning a Live Photo into a GIF. Rather than scrolling down to bring up the GIF effects, you'll now be able to access them via a contextual menu where the "Live" indicator is.
Launch thePhotosapp on your iPhone or iPad.
Find theLive Photothat you want to turn into a GIF.
Tap theLiveindicator in the upper left corner.
Choose which GIF effect you want:Loop,Bounce, orLong Exposure.
When you change a Live Photo into a GIF with either the Loop or Bounce effect, it will go into yourAnimated albuminstead ofLive Photos. You can change it back to a Live Photo at any time. Images with theLong Exposureeffect are still counted as Live Photos.
How to stitch together multiple Live Photos to create a video
In iOS 13, Apple added the ability to stitch together multiple Live Photos (not necessary to have them back-to-back) to create a video clip. The process is baked directly into iOS itself, so you don't need to import your Live Photos into an app like iMovie to do so. It's insanely easy and lets you create amazing memories! Here'show to make a video from multiple Live Photos.
LaunchPhotoson your iPhone or iPad.
Find theLive Photosthat you want to create a video file with.
When viewing an image, you can tell if it is a Live Photo when it has the diffusing circle icon in the top left, along with the word "LIVE" next to it.
Tap on theSharebutton.
You can scroll through yourimagesand select more just above theShare Sheetoptions.
Scroll down and selectSave as Video.
Your new video will be in theRecentsalbum.
